After all my fears, it fits! It’s perfect, I can’t wait until I’m done and I can wear it around all day everyday! I chose to knit it up with a little positive ease because I’m not a skin tight kinda person and have broad shoulders, but so far I love how it feels around my neck and across the back. [Did I tell you I love it?]
The colour work was sloooow, but I’m glad I got there in the end. I was a little anxious about working with three colours for the flowers at the bottom of the yoke and after a few tangled attempts I decided to weave with two colours as I had been doing and float the third colour. I’m sure there is a better way to do this [anyone!?], but I was only ever floating behind three stitches and I felt like that wasn’t too many to worry about. I hope in doing it this way that my tension isn’t too loose or too tight, it feels great trying it on now, but we will have to see when all is knit up and done! I’m also looking forward to giving it a good ol’ blocking to even out some of the stitches in the yoke.
The only other small teeny thing that I might mention is my choice of colours. Although I’m really happy with them I do wish that my mid-tone colour, which you choose for the rain and umbrella handle, was a little darker. In some light the contrast between the main body colour and the grey-brown isn’t great enough and the detail gets lost. But really, I don’t mind, I love it.
Now I have rows and rows of st st… I’m glad I’m so stoked about wearing this knit otherwise I think I would be putting off the next stage of this project…. on I go!
