Grown Giveaway!

I’m thrilled to be able to share a brand new book today! Grown : Sophisticated Sweater Designs from the Maker of Tot Toppers, is a collection of wonderful sweaters by the ever inspiring Kate Oates. You probably will be no stranger to her children’s patterns, Tot Toppers. As a mother of four boys she has a wealth of knowledge on designing modern knits for kids that you actually want to see on your kids (her previous book is no exception!), and Grown is a natural extension of her children’s line – each sweater is the adult version of an original pint sized pattern!

Supported with bold, clear and uplifting photography throughout, Kate includes a little back story of the original design for every one of the 10 sweaters, and ample info on tweaks and shaping you could add into these adult versions, as well as a sizing guide, and a great explanation on ease etc. All the ins and outs you need for a smooth sailing knit that will fit you perfectly!

A personal fave of mine is the Plaza hoodie. It would fit so seamlessly into my wardrobe as something that is cosy, but presentable (everyone’s dream, amirite?). And what else I love about this particular one is that Kate used the same model as per the original child’s knit, just a few years older… or, Grown!!

I’m delighted to have one digital copy of the wonderful book to giveaway! All you need to do is head on over and view all the patterns in the book and come back to comment letting me know which pattern you would cast on right away, and I will pick a winner end of day Sunday 11th! Who’s looking for an early Christmas pressie?!

Congrats Anna you won! I’ll be in touch 🙂

And if you can’t wait until then, Grown is available for pre-order for the remainder of this year.  The whopping pre-order package includes: e-book and print version, free coordinating children’s pattern PDF and custom gauge from Retromantic Fripperies (ships with the book in January). Get yours here!
To purchase the digital copy, available now, you can find that here!

Good luck!!

Thanks for sharing the book with us. I think I would start with the Jesse’s girl sweater. There are so many beautiful ones to start with! (zima21 on Ravelry)

The Scholar Cardigan for my Latin-teacher husband. 🙂 Such a classic. I already have Kate’s book for boys, so there’s that father-son thing for goofy family photos also. 🙂

Thanks for such a generous giveaway! I’ve got my eye on the “Jesse’s Girl”pullover. The cables that creep up the sleeves and down the back are so intoxicating! Because the design is so sophisticated, I wouldn’t be shy to knit it in a bright color, either!

Hello, thanks for the giveaway! The Joey Sweater is such a smart design with all the tiny fancy details. It is very attempting. 🙂

  5. I am torn between the Sidewalk pattern and the Artisan one. Sidewalk seems to be a sweater that I could live in, and the Artisan makes me want to conquer my fear of colourwork…

I really like Jesse’s Girl. The neckline is very pretty, and I do love cables. Thanks for the giveaway. Happy holidays! Savannagal on Rav
